During Sónar week, around Sant Joan, during the Festes de Gràcia and in September and October the calendar fills up sooner, so it pays to book early. Three to four months ahead we talk about the musical world you want, about the venue (indoors, terrace, Mediterranean garden) and about the moments you want to mark. On the day I arrive three or four hours before the cocktail to set up, run sound checks and walk the spaces, which matters at masias with separate zones for ceremony, banquet and dancing. During the civil ceremony I handle the entrance and exit music; at the cocktail I play light grooves that sit under the conversation, and over dinner the mood stays softer so the speeches can breathe. When the floor opens I move towards house, deep and latin, at the tempo and energy the room is asking for. In total 2 to 8 hours depending on the schedule, with fluid transitions between each moment.

For events outside the metropolitan area, in Sitges, Castelldefels, the Costa Brava, Tarragona or Girona, an overnight stay is usually included so the set can start calmly after the setup. I also travel on request beyond Catalonia, for example to Madrid, Valencia, Mallorca, Ibiza, the south of France or a few German cities. In that case the flight and accommodation are built into the quote. The further away the venue, the more useful it is to plan ahead: a journey organised in good time means I arrive rested and with the gear checked.

My DJ gear always travels with me. The core kit: Pioneer mixer, professional headphones, cables, USB hub, backup sound card and a drive holding the library locally (no reliance on the hotel or masia wifi). If the venue has no sound system, the usual case at Penedès masias, Eixample rooftops, city villas and events in the character spaces of El Born or Poblenou, the sound and lighting are organised with partner suppliers and quoted separately: PA speakers sized to the room, a subwoofer (it matters indoors with live acoustics to get presence without overloading the room), wireless mics for the ceremony and speeches, discreet ambient lighting. On Eixample rooftops and penthouses there are strict limits on hours and volume under the city noise rules; the rig is set up to stay inside those limits without losing presence. At masias the challenge is usually the opposite: a large space, a generator with limited output, and separate zones for ceremony, cocktail, dinner and dancing that all need covering without drop-offs. I arrive early, run a soundcheck, and handle the whole sound chain as your single point of contact.

For a wedding or a major corporate event in Barcelona I recommend booking 4 to 9 months ahead, especially between May and September. Sónar week (June) and Sant Joan (24 June) are particularly saturated, as are Saturdays in September and October when the late wedding season starts at the Penedès masias. For a weekday party, a corporate event outside the peak months or a rooftop between November and March, two or three months is usually enough. For last-minute requests, do get in touch: dates regularly free up through postponements. Either way, the earlier the enquiry arrives, the more comfortable the preparation: we have time to build the playlist together, coordinate with planners and visit the venue if needed.

Song requests are an essential part of the job, not an optional extra. Crowds in Barcelona are usually very mixed: Catalans, Spaniards from the rest of the country, European expats and international visitors from the tech and creative scene of the city, and they all arrive with very different references. Before the event we settle three things: a wishlist of the tracks that have to be played, a no-go list of the styles or songs to avoid and, where it fits, a guide playlist for the opening. During the party guests can ask me for tracks directly at the booth. I work them in when they add to the mood of the moment, without breaking the thread of the night or losing the floor that is already dancing. If a request does not fit the set in progress, I look for an equivalent that makes sense or place it at a better moment. Medium (60 to 150 guests): a wedding at a Penedès masia, a reception at a villa in Pedralbes or Sarrià, a company party in a Poblenou venue or a launch event at an Eixample hotel. A properly sized PA, mics for the formal moments, light lighting. Large (180 to 400+ guests): a VIP wedding at a finca with ceremony, cocktail, banquet and dancefloor in separate zones; a corporate event in a large 22@ space; a brand reception in a showroom or gallery with catering. A powerful PA, a sub for the dance area, dancefloor lighting, strict schedule management. For the medium and large formats, sound and lighting are organised with partner suppliers and quoted separately. I announce and speak to the crowd in Spanish, English and German, depending on the main language of your guests. At a wedding where one family is English-speaking and the other French-speaking, I can alternate languages for the important announcements: opening the floor and the speeches. For an international corporate event, English is usually the most useful for the official moments, while the music and the general mood are universal. I use German mainly for tour groups and German-speaking clients in Barcelona. Yes, on request. For private clients and companies alike I issue a detailed invoice stating the nature of the service, the date of the event, the venue, the total amount and any applicable taxes. For a corporate event in Barcelona or elsewhere in Catalonia, the invoice can go straight to the accounts department and carry the client's CIF or NIF where needed. Payment is by bank transfer before or after the event, whichever suits you. For private clients organising a wedding, a villa party or a private event, the invoice serves as a record for your files or for reimbursement by an employer. Mention it at the quote stage and the invoice will be ready on the day of the event or very shortly after.
